Sony is gradually expanding the capabilities of its PlayStation Plus service. After the recent split into three tiers, there has recently been talk that subscribers to the highest version, called Premium, will see the addition of an option that gives them Allows you to play new PS5 games from the cloud. Could the desire to attract new subscribers eventually lead to a change in strategy, which, following the example of Microsoft and its Game Pass, will allow games to be added to PS Plus on the day they are released? At least not yet.
Nick Maguire, director of PlayStation subscriptions at Sony, told GamesIndustry.biz that they are happy with Sony’s current strategy. According to him, the company paid off classifying individual games only at a later stage in their life cyclewhich they intend to continue in the future. Maguire noted that the appearance of big titles in the subscription service could appeal to a large number of people, despite the fact that the title is already 12, 18 or even 24 months old.
However, a PlayStation spokesperson adds that they are still open to opportunities at Sony. investing in third party games, which will subsequently be released on the same day of release on PS Plus. As such, PlayStation has introduced the successful Stray adventure game or Meet your Maker multiplayer event in the past. However, this will not be the case with first-person games in the future.
