Developers from the Starbreeze studio have collected several developer magazines, in which we will meet a number of authors of the game Payday 3. They will share with us interesting information from behind the scenes of the development of individual episodes. Today we have the honor to look at the first of them. This should serve as an introduction to Payday 3 and what we can expect from this collaborative heist’s sequel.

Word of mouth for Payday 3 should be familiar to veterans of the seriesbut at the same time he is in a new job many small changeswhich as a result completely changes the gameplay.

One of the big changes compared to the original works will be the mission system itself. In previous works, it was divided into two parts: a silent part and a subsequent action. In the new part there will be a part with a search, when the police suspect that something is going on in the building and start snooping around to expose you.

Another interesting innovation is negotiations. Now you can take hostages, which can be traded with the cops for extra time before the agents storm the building, or stored for longer and then traded for, for example, supplies. You will also have the option to make civilian human shields and protect yourself from enemy fire.

Deployment moved from Washington DC. in the New York metropolitan area. It’s a gigantic city with lots of walkers and life around it, which should make the gameplay very much alive. However, the main reason for the change of location is the plot. Throughout the history of the Payday series, the story has gradually developed, and both the players themselves and the developers began to notice that it is becoming a very important and popular component of the game, and therefore they want to focus more on the plot in the third part, and the city should play an important role here.

Our original gang is celebrating their comebackbut we will also see two new characters. Even now, developers are not averse to working with the gaming community. For the second part, they joined forces with fans on more than 30 occasions. Initially, of course, they will focus on enriching the base game, but if later on the players have interesting ideas that fit into the Payday universe and do not violate the atmosphere of the game in any way, they are open to any cooperation.

Today’s latest information no longer comes from a dev diary, but is technical in nature. At release, Payday 3 will run on Unreal Engine 4. However in the future it is planned to switch to Unreal Engine 5. Unfortunately, we don’t have information if the game will use new technologies such as Nanite, Lumen or Ray Tracing effects.

Payday 3 launches September 21st for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. It will be available on Game Pass on the same day.
