Around the possible continuation of the Titanfall series, references, leaks or fragments from the past appear from time to time. Interesting new information was provided by a former employee of the Respawn studio in an interview with The Burnettwork channel. Mohammad Alaviwho participated as a designer in the Titanfall series.
Alavi said that at some point the studio was developing Titanfall 3. In the third part developers had to work for about 10 months, during which it was possible to create a technical basis, scenario and develop several missions. Although the trio was supposed to bring unspecified modifications and improvements, according to Alavi, it was largely based on the second installment and was not meant to bring anything groundbreaking to the series.
The developer called the turning point that changed the plans of the studio PUBG battle royale release. This famous hit from Krafton, which launched the popularity of the battle royale genre, also appealed to the developers from Respawn, who soon realized the potential of his whole concept. Consequently, instead of continuing to develop Titanfall, the studio decided to significantly redesign the entire concept of the game and move it into the battle royale genre. The result was a free Apex Legends event released in 2019.
The Respawn studio then focused on the development of games in the Star Wars universe. This work resulted in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. At present, the studio’s efforts should be focused on several different projects. ahead of the next Star Wars gamewhich, however, this time should offer a first-person view.
