We tried the Egyptian Total War: Pharaoh

It’s that time again. Time to show the world total war. However, this time we are not going back to Rome, the age of the samurai, the Middle Ages, Troy or fantasy Warhammer. But to Egypt. As long as this culturally rich and influential part of the world was under the rule of the pharaohs. Yes, Total War is back. And this is at the work of the Pharaoh. Ancient Egypt at the peak of its power, a topic that is personally close to me, and I know that I am not alone in the editorial office.

So far, we haven’t actually seen enough of the game to give you a full preview. However, due to its release this October, we will have to wait for the review. However, there are several aspects that we have already seen and experienced. which prompted us to publish enough.

We could try real team fights, which are such a perk of this series along with the second half in the form of a diplomatic turn-based part. We know in it that we can play for one of eight different leaderswho, with the fall of the reign of Pharaoh Merenptah and the end of the Bronze Age, are trying to seize the Egyptian throne.

As for the fights as such, at first glance they will be more dynamic than ever. He’s mostly to blame new dynamic environment systemand that’s definitely what caught our attention. Heavy rains and sandstorms will directly affect the terrain and affect your battles, the capabilities of your units and opponents, so you will have to in real time responds much better to conditionswhich you can hardly influence. Although we are a little afraid that sometimes this will disrupt our brilliant plans too much, but maybe that’s where the fun will be. Of course, we also like the danger of fires. The big one can break out onto the battlefield smoker and just disable parts of the battlefield. For example, completely burn the forest or destroy various settlements, which can also serve as protection. Either we or the enemy. On the other hand, puddles and mud can slow down units and make heavier armored units almost unusable.

But we consider it the most impressive the whole atmosphere. I guess it’s because I like Egypt, but all this desert, amazing colorful architecture, impressive natural phenomena, pyramids and rocks… I drooled over it all the time. Add to this the beautifully executed units. If something really worked and you can see it at a glance, it’s the atmosphere.

It is a pity that we have not yet had the opportunity to see the diplomatic part. There I am very interested in all the leaders and how they will differ from each other. Basically, what new features the developers have prepared for us, because, I confess, I have always been more attracted to this gradation in Total War. However, I’m also excited about the new combat mechanics, so i can hope it will be a solid package together.

And since I already mentioned packages, it’s probably worth looking at possible support for the game in the future, because we already know that in addition to the standard edition of the game for 60 euros, there is a Deluxe edition and the Dynasty edition will be sold. The first, with the oddly priced €72.87, will offer a DLC pack with one extra faction in addition to the game and digital soundtrack. The Dynasty Edition for €91.46 comes with the second and third faction DLC packs and an additional campaign.

In general, I must say that from what I have seen, I am so excited. At least I’m looking forward to the game more than several previous parts of the series, and after a long time I can personally say that I can’t wait, until I plunge into ancient Egypt as a pharaoh or king of the Hittites this October, i.e. October.
