Many players criticized the first gameplay footage from Spiderman 2 by Marvel. Fans have been expecting a better visual experience when a game is created exclusively on prefix 5. Instead, they scoff at the poorer water physics and a few minor technical improvements. The Sony president himself had high hopes for the PlayStation Showcase. In the case of this action-adventure game, he promised to make full use of the PS5’s power and capabilities.
Community Head James Stevenson of Insomniac Games now recalls, these gameplay footage was not captured in the final version of the game. In other words the game is not over yet (in case anyone thinks otherwise), and with that in mind, we can expect more improvements when Spider-Man 2 releases sometime this fall (most likely September).
Typically, these presentations use a build of the game that can be several months old – it stands apart from development and therefore does not include other modifications and improvements that the developers have made since then.
A detailed comparison with Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered by ElAnalistaDeBits shows that the developers have recovered a lot. Especially rendering objects at a distance, building textures or movements by Peter Parker and Miles Morales. Not to mention the ability to freely switch between the two heroes, which should allow for even more dynamic gameplay, and new symbiote abilities on Peter’s side and bio-electrical abilities on Miles’ side.
