The RPG of 2019 is considered one of the biggest flops in video games. According to Saterdalen, Anthem was allegedly created for 15 monthswhich is incredibly fast for a game of this scale.
“We knew that the game was not finished because it was developed in literally fifteen months. It’s unheard of for a game of this level of content.” wrote Saterdalen on Twitter.
“I worked about 90 hours a week (as did many of the other team members) for 15 months (I’m sure others have done the same before me). It wasn’t a pace that could be sustained and we shouldn’t have been in that situation at all.” revealed the developer who, after leaving BioWare, became the producer of Halo Infinite at 343 Industries.

We’ve heard several times in the past that BioWare started work on Anthem in 2012. But a new statement from a former developer highlights earlier information about problem development and several restarts.
Another person thus confirms that the actual development of Anthem, which was released in 2019, began shortly before the announcement of the trailer in 2017. 15 months later, in February 2019, Anthem was released, but already greatly reduced content and story. Which subsequently resulted in talk that the demo at E3 2018 was a fake.
Saterdalen is convinced that if it came down to Anthem 2, the title would be great. There is certainly potential in this sci-fi world, but given the poor commercial results, it is unlikely that Electronic Arts will return to this brand. Even though Anthem Next was cancelled.
