Representatives of the Polish studio CD Projekt Red, as part of the publication of their financial results, disclosed that most of the team continues work on the Phantom Liberty expansion for Cyberpunk 2077. This trend is likely to continue until the release of the long-awaited data disc, the release date of which we could find out as early as next week at the Summer Game Fest event, where the game will definitely appear.
Despite the ongoing work on Phantom Liberty, it is clear that gradually a significant part of the developers are moving to the development the upcoming new part of the Witcher series with the Polaris designation, which over time should crystallize into an entirely new trilogy. This development can be seen in the chart below, which shows the games currently in development and the number of developers involved in individual projects over time.
It’s obvious lately gradually increasing the developer team is responsible for the new Witcher, which compensates for the reduction in developers who took care of the support of Cyberpunk 2077. However, a significant increase and a full-fledged start in the development of the new Witcher will probably occur only after the completion of Phantom Liberty.
