Will Sony buy CD Projekt RED? Don’t believe everything

Last year’s suggestion that Sony wanted to buy the authors of The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077 returned like a boomerang over the weekend. At the same time, there was talk of courtship with the French Ubisoft.

Liz, one of the most famous insiders associated with Destiny (Sony’s own creator, Bungie Studios), has come up with the latest speculation. He said that PlayStation plans to buy CD Projekt RED while Days Gone 2 is in development.

Representatives of the company usually do not comment on such rumors. But this time it’s different. Against speculation she went out Ola Sonday from the public relations department of the Polish studio and said that Sony is not currently in the acquisition process.

In order not to believe everything that is written on the Internet, he advises Radek Grabowski, Global PR Director for CD Projekt RED. On the contrary, YouTuber LastKnownMeal reminds us that this is the tenth time this rumor has been circulating since the release of Cyberpunk 2077. According to him, the acquisition is possible, but nothing like that is happening now.

After the problems with Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt RED is still an independent studio and seems determined to remain so. In just over a month, you’ll get a detailed look at Cyberpunk 2077’s first and, at the same time, last story expansion (it’s called Phantom Liberty). The company is also working on a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, a new Witcher saga, a remake of the first Witcher, a spin-off of The Witcher, and a mysterious new brand called Project Hadar.

As for Days Gone 2, a development is possible, though unlikely, given that Sony canceled the original second part of the biker post-apocalyptic action game and the main creators left the Bend studio. Instead of Days Gone 2, Bend is preparing a new brand that includes a multiplayer mode and is based on Days Gone’s open world systems.

Speaking of Days Gone 2, well Jeff Ross (he led the development of the original Days Gone) after a weak Playstation showcase declaredthat if they stuck to their plans, Days Gone 2 would be out in a month. According to him, more than 90 people from the original line-up left the studio.
