Popular real-time strategy Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition for PC and Xbox received the previously announced pack of add-ons Return of Rome. It adds 16 factions from the first game, an entirely new nation, and three new campaigns.
The new content is separate from Age of Empires 2: DE and can be accessed via a tab in the game’s main menu. A list of old factions can be found below. They are the seventeenth nation Lac VietTribes of Southeast Asia in the late Neolithic period.
“Blast your way through the ancient world in three new campaigns featuring conquerors, empire builders, and gifted tacticians fighting desperately against fate!” press release beckons.
They are interesting two versions of Rome. In the new DLC, you will play as an empire based on earlier historical periods, while in Age of Empires 2: DE you will have a later version of the Roman Empire, which was considered a shadow of its former glory.
THREE NEW CAMPAIGN
History of Sergon of Akkad from Mesopotamia., who leads the capricious Sumerians into a new age, but his nature forces him to choose between divine destiny and personal ambition. In this campaign, you will play as the Sumerians. They are considered one of the oldest civilizations in the world.
Playing as a Macedonian in the story of Pyrrhus of Epirus, who started out as a small player among the titans. Will he be worthy of the judgment of the legendary Hannibal Barca – the illustrious commander of his time – or will his ongoing uphill battle prove irresistible?
Romans through the eyes of Mark Ulpius Trajan. He rose through the ranks of the legions while the tyrannical rule of Emperor Domitian tarnished the glory of the Roman Empire. When circumstances push him to the throne of Emperor Trajan, he inherits an empire on the brink of disaster. Will ingenuity, virtue and military power be enough to save Rome and bring it to its historical zenith, or will the Roman Empire collapse four centuries ahead of its time?
