Nintendo announces a financial recession for the second year in a row. Its sales this fiscal year (April 2022 to March 2023) reached $11.84 billionwhich is 3 billion or so 20% less than in the previous period. Falling hardware and game sales also contributed to the decline.
Sales dropped proportionally profit Nintendo, what have they achieved $3.2 billion. In addition, they were affected by the growing costs of the company for the distribution of games or their development.
Even this year, Nintendo hasn’t dropped to pre-Covid levels. For the next financial year Japanese publisher predicts further decline. While almost 214 million copies of games (or software) were sold last year, 180 million copies are expected next year. Switch sales will also decline. The numbers could rise again in fiscal 2025 with potential new hardware.
