Chronicles of Avelu is a board game about heroes that has captured the attention of many young gamers with its stylization and, above all, its accessible gameplay. Evil in Chronicles of Avel: New Adventures releases its claws again
The history of the Chronicle of Avelu revolved around the fight against a great evil. So, more precisely, around the Beast, behind whose back the power of monsters of all stripes was formed. It has now been defeated, but some argue that while it was a powerful sap, it certainly wasn’t a being sent into the world by dark forces as a harbinger of the end. It is believed to be a three-headed hydra with the name Moon Lizard, which constantly changes as you move around the map, and its shape is determined by two randomly selected shards. While one round will attack with three purple dice and automatically deal damage to the attacked, in the next he will receive a skin from the gods, able to reflect one attack and use exactly four dice on landing.
In addition to the permanent effect projected onto the cubes, there is also an instant effect, with the help of which certain squares can be flooded with flames, or injure people standing nearby with their fangs. The juice is very unpleasant and certainly not easy to swallow. In addition to the Moon Lizard, several new monsters have been added that hold the power of the forest spirits, who are ready to improve your equipment, give you money or kill any monster after being released. In the case of the latter, however, you should expect that you will not receive any reward for this.
The regular magical creatures that can be found in Chronicles of Avel: New Adventures aren’t the only good magical creatures. In the Oberon and Titania modes, which can be integrated into the available scenarios, you also have the opportunity to meet with the ancient elves, who can give you special items, the power of which far exceeds the capabilities of ordinary equipment from the bag.

There is only one way to deal with the Moon Beast. However, it is better to face her in the campaign offered by Chronicles of Avelu: New Adventures. It consists of only three scenarios that can be gradually completed. Each of them works with slightly different game elements, so it cannot be said that they are absolutely the same experiences that cannot be fixed in your memory for a long time.
The first one will get you out of your comfort zone. In it, you hunt three frogs, Brug, Brog and Brugg, who are running away from you. However, the rest of the monsters don’t care, so while some of you are catching spanks, the rest have to crush the constantly appearing monsters crawling out of their holes. The second scenario will not leave you alone either, because you need to work on the moon shards obtained from the mischievous frogs. And then, of course, a spectacular finale that decides whether Abel will fall or, on the contrary, get rid of a significant part of the darkness.
Create your opponents
One of the essential elements of Chronicles of Avelu: New Adventures is, without a doubt, the combination of newly arrived monsters, as well as magical creatures, who this time not only want to harm you, but also lend a helping hand in the fight against evil. While composition seems trivial at first glance, it has an unparalleled impact on young players as they essentially create their enemies and thus have the ability to form some form of connection with them. The box, in which all the monsters, including the Moon Lizard, hide and wait for an opportunity, is also brilliantly crafted.
However, the most striking factor is the ability to create new monsters and equipment with crayons and pens. The children had already had a good time defining their hero, and this was a very pleasant extension for them, thanks to which most of them once again completely immersed themselves in the world of fairy-tale creatures and dangerous monsters. In addition to building and generating new creatures, I definitely recommend actively working with the existing story, through which you actively present to your teammates separate parts of the story, which in the end form a perfectly functioning whole.
The stories in Chronicles of Avel: New Adventures beckon and won’t let go
Chronicles of Avelu is a great game that can really draw in young players and turn them into the heroes they represent over time, mowing down wave after wave of monsters to protect the royal city from darkness. Chronicles of Avelu: New Adventures is a great addition that takes it all a step further and increases the difficulty to a certain extent, so that even the battle-hardened will no longer be sure that they will be able to pass the new scenarios.
The probability of failure here is perhaps higher than in the basic version due to the presence of new scenarios. However, this is a good thing, because perhaps in some ways it was too easy, at least for some, which was fixed by a new group of creatures led by the Moon Lizard. If you have Chronicles of Avelu at home and love it, then the Chronicles of Avelu: New Adventures expansion is an almost obvious choice as it will enhance the overall gaming experience. I would recommend it primarily to families who want to go on an adventure.
