Looks like the unannounced title has been cancelled. This follows from statement lead designer Mark Vernon, who only joined PixelOpus in January of this year. He and others hope to work together again in the future.
“At PlayStation Studios, we regularly evaluate the portfolio and status of projects to ensure they are aligned with the organisation’s short and long term strategic goals. PixelOpus Studio was founded by Sony in 2014 in the California city of San Mateo as a support for young developers from local universities. The small team was led by creative director and veteran Dominique Robilliard, who focused on creating games with a distinctive style. In 2014 they created the rhythm game Entwined for PS4, PS3 and PS Vita, and in 2019 they created the interesting adventure game Concrete Genie for PS4.
Many people take the closure of PixelOpus as a signal that Sony will focus only on blockbusters and skip small unique projects..
