The day before yesterday, the British Competition Authority blocked a merger between Activision Blizzard and Microsoft worth nearly $69 billion. But, as it turned out later, the company behind Call of Duty is doing great and all three divisions i.e. Activision, Blizzard and King are growing.
As a result, the company’s first-quarter earnings increased 87% year-on-year to $740 million. Revenue increased by 35% to $2.38 billion. The company is indebted to all of its major brands i.e. Call of Duty, Candy Crush, Warcraft, Overwatch and Diablo.
Activision division’s revenue was $580 million, up 28% from the first three months of 2022. Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2which is significantly more popular than Call of Duty: Vanguard from 2021. Also, don’t forget Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0which was launched in November last year.
Interestingly, even Activision the number of active users has decreased by two million, and the mobile division of King is seven million less. Blizzard compensated for this, the number of active players of which increased by 5 million.

Let’s take another look at the statistics for December 2022. At the time, Activision had over 111 million active players (now 98 million) and Blizzard had 45 million (now 27 million).
