Czech Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is now available for download on Friday

So when we said a few weeks ago that we could translate Survivor ourselves on a community initiative and fix the major shortcomings of machine translations. And to give such a translation for downloading without ads, you need to register or type commands in some chat. We announced a collaboration with Farflame. Since this is not just the release of the first version in Czech, this is an ongoing plan, how to make high-quality Czech translation for players.

Czech language for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor could have been created so quickly using advanced machine translationpartly also using the work of translators who have been studying the Czech language during this short time, and using the same or similar texts from the first volume that are at the disposal of the group of translators.

Already on Friday, i.e. on the day of the release of the game, you will be able to download the corrected version, which will be fully functional with diacritics, but of course, you will have to wait for the final error-free translation and there may be certain inconsistencies, Farflame continues to work in the Czech Republic and the full version is scheduled to be released in just three weeks.

Although we will offer this Czech on the day of publication, we are aware of the disadvantages of using machine translation for these types of translations and recommend that everyone wait for the next versions, which will be handpicked. Farflame gradually informs on the page how much better the translation is than the one made by AI – for example, no technology will create a translation for you with the correct terminology of the Star Wars world if you do not have people who know it. And the Farflam team is working with them.

“We are not trying to fight against artificial intelligence, as some mistakenly claim, but against the misuse of AI for personal gain,” Farflame explains. “Machine translations are only a help so far, and they have enough shortcomings that we know about. We know this is enough for some, but we don’t want to force all players to play with ridiculous gibberish and broken game play (when the AI ​​breaks some of the mechanics that display text).” he adds that they still care about it and the quality of the translation will matter.

The Czech language for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is created as an open and public translation that does not parasitize on the gray area of ​​copyright, it is activated as a non-invasive patch (no game modification). does not overwrite existing game languagesbut adds a new one, which is automatically activated as a priority.

And why is INDIAN so involved in this matter?

“I would like to use this experiment to show people that there is a good reason why there are localization groups, and that not everyone can be a translator just because they can upload texts to DeepL and export them in a few seconds. If we did the Czech Republic ourselves without Farflame, it would never have reached such a quality.” explains Philip Kraucher – Fiola, producer of the game show Indian.

“Our collaboration is to prove that this is possible even without the hygienic methods that some here are trying to do. We believe that this is how publishing Czech in the gray area should look right. Moreover, we will also support people who have been studying the Czech language for years and are therefore professionals. In the end, INDIAN doesn’t really benefit from this experiment: we have secured the start of the Czech language, we will release the first version extremely quickly, and then people who really know him have a chance to finish the Czech language in peace. So we’re glad that Indian with Farflame can lead by example. I hope this will lead to an improvement in the atmosphere among the community translators, which has been dangerously worsened by machine Czech,” Fiola adds.

Indian is not currently preparing any other Czech or other machine translations. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor was supposed to be a demonstration from our side that when we talk about something, we are not lying.
