While Horizon Forbidden West leans on futurism, Burning Shores remains defiantly human in every way.

It would be easy to describe Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores as the same thing, but with some great gameplay moments and Aloy’s new relationship with Seika, the expansion should be considered essential for all fans of the series. Make no mistake, the third game in the series is coming, and this is its prelude. But more importantly, if the new features and other additions here are a taste of what’s to come, then we look forward to continuing.

But why tho?
Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores is a great example of a DLC done right. If this is just an example of what’s in store for Aloy, then I can’t wait.

Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores is a fun, if not short, epilogue to Horizon Forbidden West. Those expecting a massive reveal might be a little disappointed, but there’s enough content in Burning Shores to make the game worth playing. Seika is Aloy’s best companion so far, and overall Burning Shores is a great addition for Horizon fans; especially for those wondering what the future holds for Aloy.

Ultimately, Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores seems like a good trailer for the next game. He flirts with the concept of some of the biggest things in the story but is still not fully committed to most of them. It’s always nice to spend more time with Ala, and while I wish some things were explored in more detail, it’s still a fun ride that hints at what’s to come.

An exceptionally enjoyable DLC that doesn’t fix the game’s major flaws, but manages to highlight its many successes, especially the graphics.
