Dark and Darker is definitely among the works currently enjoying unprecedented attention. After great success, a battle began with Nexon, who sued the creator for stealing documents that Ironmace was then to use as the basis for their project. Since the game was pulled from Steam, this did not stop its authors and they nevertheless decided to organize a test, which could only be accessed via a torrent.
Unfortunately, the current testing didn’t go the way the community had envisioned. The main problem was supposed to be a DDoS attack that hit the creator. Although the studio tried to sort out the issues, testing ended up without stable servers. The authors commented on the whole situation as follows: “We want to apologize for all the bugs, instability, and obstacles you encountered during this playtest. The quality was not up to our standards and we will focus on improving the game for our fans in the future. Unfortunately, this playtest will not be extended and will end on April 20, 2023. As always, we’ll share the data from this playtest soon.“
The release date for Dark and Darker on PC is still largely unknown, but the creators are confident in its success, as evidenced by their latest comment: “As a company, we will do our best to make the game available to our fans as soon as possible and will keep you updated as soon as possible. Thanks again for your huge support and see you in the dungeons!Whether they can win this battle is questionable as Nexon’s lawsuits are on solid footing.
