Sega is looking to buy a Finnish development studio, according to sources at The Wall Street Journal (via VGC). Rovio Entertainmentwhich is best known for its popular series Angry Birds mostly on mobile devices. Unless there are unforeseen changes, purchase for one billion dollars companies should announce in the coming days.
Rovio has been in talks with potential buyers for some time now. Israeli mobile publisher Playtika was supposed to be the closest, but ended up falling out of the $810 million deal.
Original Angry Birds and several other games were repeatedly downloaded from mobile stores, the last time Android devices played the popular game was in February of this year. On iOS, the name has been renamed. The reason, paradoxically, is the excessive popularity of the game, which does not contain microtransactions and costs one dollar. According to the Angry Birds community manager, this has “negatively affected other games”.
