Polish studio CD Projekt RED has released a new update for Cyberpunk 2077. An update to the PC version of the popular RPG adds a new ray tracing mode. His name is overdrive.
Overdrive brings full ray tracing to Cyberpunk 2077, also known as path tracing. The developers say that the technology is able to accurately simulate the light in a given scene and take into account the properties of radiation from an unlimited number of sources to create realistic shadows, reflections and global illumination.
According to a press release, path tracing is in Cyberpunk 2077. A look into the future of gaming graphics. These effects are called technology preview. As a result, the whole new product is extremely demanding on the video card and is available only on a limited number of GeForce cards from Nvidia.
You can play Cyberpunk 2077 with path tracing enabled. GeForce RTX 40 series (4070 Ti and above) and can also run at 30fps at 1080p on the GeForce RTX 3090. PC players with other ray-traced cards can display news in the game’s photo mode. GeForce RTX 40 Series owners can use DLSS 3 to boost performance in Cyberpunk 2077.
