Historically the last Major for CS:GO
Few missed the rumors and speculation about the successor to the iconic esports title, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Subsequently, they were confirmed, and already in the summer we can expect Counter-Strike 2, which will be released as a free update for CS:GO. Of course, this will really stir up the professional esports scene. The May BLAST.tv Paris Major will be the last CS:GO tournament of its kind in history. The next one will take place no earlier than spring 2024, already in Counter-Strike 2. The Paris event will be the nineteenth CS:GO Major, and the final is scheduled for May 21, 2023. The most successful team during the previous Majors was the Danish Astralis, who won a total of four times (StarLadder Berlin Major 2019, IEM Katowice Major 2019, FACEIT Major London 2018 and ELEAGUE Major Atlanta 2017). The scorers of Fnatic are closely behind (ESL One: Cologne 2015, ESL One: Katowice 2015 and DreamHack Winter 2013). A select few players are already testing out the new Counter-Strike 2. Initial reports suggest that competitive gamers really have something to look forward to.
Zero really ends
Recently, we informed you about a break that Patrick “Zero” Zudel, a member of the national SINNERS team, voluntarily went on a break. The reasons were unknown at first, but with Zero expression everything became clear on twitter. After ten long years, Patrick Judel is ending his esports career. According to him, the main reasons include the loss of motivation and the lack of a shot on goal. Zero started in 2013 with the Encardy team and has subsequently gone through the divisions FU.SK, nEophyte and Fraternitas. Thanks to the newly gained experience, he secured foreign participation in the form of a two-year internship with the HellRaisers team, with which he visited Atlanta, USA, where ELEAGUE Major 2017 was held. Participation in the major can be considered the peak of Zhudel’s career. Prior to joining SINNERS, he worked for GameAgents, Budapest Five and GamerLegion.
Zero’s other accomplishments are undoubtedly the double victory at MČR, which he won in 2014 (with the nEophyte team) and 2022 (with SINNERS). In addition, the first place at Copenhagen Games 2016, which he won in total with HellRaisers, and victory at the Sazka eCUP Winter 2022 tournament, where he stood on the podium with SINNERS. And what will Zero be doing for the foreseeable future? Self-education is a priority for him.
