Finnish company Remedy has issued a very detailed press release for investors looking to 2022. But it also contains new information about upcoming projects, of which the studio has many.
The most anticipated at the moment, of course, is Alan Wake 2, announced at The Game Awards the year before last. It is supposed to tell a dark story and, unlike the first part, will be a survival horror. The game has been in full production for quite some time, and while we haven’t seen anything about it yet, Remedy boss Tero Virtala once again assures in a press release that it will be released this year as originally planned. The title is published by Epic Games, as is the remaster of the first.
However, Remedy is working on a number of other games. One of them is a full-fledged sequel to Control, which was announced a few months ago and is in the proof of concept stage. Also at the same stage of development is a project codenamed Condor, a cooperative PvE title set in the world of Control. Both games are published by 505 Games, just like the original 2019 Control.
Another project is a third-person multiplayer PvE shooter with a live service codenamed Vanguard. This project has been in development for several years, and Remedy is working on it in conjunction with the Chinese company Tencent. It is also in the proof-of-concept stage, which has taken a little longer than originally planned. While all other games are built using Northlight’s in-house engine, Vanguard uses Unreal Engine.
The latest project is a remake of the first and second Max Payen, which are created in collaboration with Rockstar, which owns the rights to this brand. However, it is only at the concept stage, so it is by far the most advanced of all the projects.
