Shoot Anything in FINALS

Getting some sort of original competitive title is what we want in 2023, just like every year. So when we first saw The Finals perform, we were pleasantly surprised. Just as we were surprised when the developers announced a closed test beta for this game. Which began on March 7 and should last until March 21. And what got us so interested in The Finals?

A concept where four teams of three players roam the city freely trying to steal money safes, all in a completely destructible environment. Yes, we love destruction here!

When you think of massive destruction, many people probably think of the Battlefield series. And the former members who helped create Battlefield decided to make their own game with even better destruction, and that’s The Finals. They did their job.

And this time, environmental destruction will not be just an aesthetic element, when it’s nice to see the house in which they were forgotten collapse on enemies. The Finals will have both destruction and a tactical element. You will often have to either get to the place or control it. And then it’s another matter when you barricade yourself, guarding your prize goal, but you still have to reckon with the fact that even walls are your enemy, and where there is no entrance, enemies can make it.

So, let’s take a closer look at whether The Finals delivered what the developers have been luring us to see in the highly successful trailers.

The gameplay is very simple. In open cities, you are shown points where safes appear, which you must take and bring to the bank, which, after standing for some time, will add the contents of the safe to your team’s points. However, other hostile groups of players will want to thwart your plan and steal the points for themselves. Either they take your loot and bring it to the bank, or they capture the bank and hold it until the end of the countdown, which does not reset after capturing. So you can probably imagine what it’s like chaotic situations may arisewhen all teams focus on one point. Therefore, for greater tact and to avoid squiggles, two target points are active at the same time for counting money. But that doesn’t make you sure which team will target what. And it has already happened to me several times that some kumaks were waiting for which of the two points the strongest would meet, and went for prey to a free point at the other end of the map.

This decision brings another interesting tactic in which you can decide how aggressive you will be.

What the game is about is easy to understand. But how to achieve this with greater success than your opponents will require a bit of intelligence after a while.

Opposite other competitive games The ending is very vertical in terms of movement. You can get almost everywhere. Either rope or rope, and if you are not playing for the most agile class, then slowly up the stairs or on the elevator.

Yes, dexterity determines your abilities. The roles of thieves in the Finale are very interestingly conceived.

You can opt for a nimble lightweight runner. Which is difficult to hit, and sometimes even notice, but if you have time, you will scatter very quickly. The lack of blood has been replaced with a great animation in which the downed player, rsplashes in gold. The other type of class is the medium build, which is sort of the golden mean, moves pretty well and can stand a little. And thirdly, there is of course a real herbivore called Heavy. Moves slowly but can deal a lot of damage. Endurance and mobility are not the only things these three classes share. Each of these can control other abilities due to the structure of his body. The slider can be invisible or gracefully cling with its weight. He controls lighter weapons mostly at close and medium distances. Although so far it seems to me that the effectiveness of most weapons is reliable at about two meters.

The average guy, being neither the fastest nor the strongest, essentially plays the role of support. He is a master of traps and defense towers and can provide fast movement to, for example, a hunted hulk thanks to a launch rope. It’s slow, but if he ends up in the middle of a fight, you’ll think twice before fighting him. He has one of the most effective firearms like machine gun, flamethrower or rocket launcher. And if he’s not in the mood to shoot, he can lift the hammer. His interesting ability is an aggressive run (the only run you’ve ever seen) where he rushes forward and destroys everything in his path. Just like the Juggernaut.

Before each match, you choose the equipment with which you will play the round. And if you play with friends, then this creates a very large number of combinations with which you can complete yourself. I would like to give you some advice, but I mostly play invisible runnerwho wants to see everything he touches burn and explode so I don’t care about the rest of the team. I meet them dead only when I revive them.

Respawn is another thing to look out for in your team. If everyone on the team dies within a short amount of time, you will have to wait over half a minute to resurrect. Which is very annoying, given the short wheels.

So sometimes it pays to wait until the enemies are gone and bring a friend back to life. You see corpses in the form of statues. Many items you can pick up and throw with you. For example, with bottles that deal damage or block the passage when they explode, and you can throw statuettes of the fallen enemies, so it’s not necessary to always revive them where they fell.

The whole concept is very fast and clear. While in the game, those Raiders who kneel twice, throw all grenades, do three somersaults, roll back and smash their heads on the keyboard in five shots probably have an advantage. Well, you probably know which players I mean. But the game is fresh and tactics are slowly evolving where team play and strategy win. What we like. There are already a lot of cosmetic items that can be obtained permanently in the Closed Test, and some of them are really good.

The game shows that it will work as an in-game currency for real money. But the ability to buy this currency is not yet available, so currently everything can be obtained by playing. We anticipate a paid battle pass coming in the future. purely cosmetic. In terms of gameplay perks, you’ll find them in The Finals as well, but thankfully only through the experience you gain as you play, unlocking new weapons and equipment over time. Very interesting is the already developed rating system, which is always a form of tournament rating. So every ranked match is essentially a small tournament that helps you get into the top divisions. This is the first more accessible testing, so the title has some minor ailments.

The sound is often oddly ominous, and the optimization has been described by many gamers online as terrible. But no one I know personally. On the contrary, it was praised that the game runs satisfactorily due to the extensive destruction model. I tried The Finals a few months ago with an Nvidia GTX 1070 graphics card and played great at low settings. And for this last closed beta, from which the current video, I played on graphics card RTX 3060 and with DirectX 12, I rarely noticed a big FPS drop. And if there was, it was mainly because of the many effects in certain places on the map, because all of us in the team suddenly had a drop.

Overall, I’m evaluating the Interim Beta The final how very lucky. Surprisingly, the servers never crashed during my playthrough, and I really enjoyed playing. Even Twitch subscribers didn’t use buzzwords like “whewhe overwatch from people” or “is he trying to defeat the Czech Republic?

And this, perhaps, is the main proof that the final is going its own way. original way.
