Developers from the Ukrainian studio GSC Game World, who partly had to move to Prague after the start of the Russian invasion, have faced blackmail from the Russian community in recent days. According to the latest data, Russian hackers have gained access to the materials of the upcoming game STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl. It should be negotiable mostly about images and concepts from the current version of the game.which have a total of 30 GB. The hackers then started threatening the developers with publishing them if they didn’t meet the following requirements.
First of all, the studio should change the approach to the players from Russia and Belarus and apologize to them for their actions so far. Also, the user with the nickname NF Star in the official Discord of the game will be unbanned. The third requirement concerns the return of Russian localization, the planned implementation of which was canceled after the invasion of Russian troops in Ukraine. The second requirement, in particular, suggests that the threats themselves are indeed behind the data theft. someone from the community stands around the gamewhich was previously banned from the official Discord.
Representatives of GCS Game World reacted to the situation Twitter. In the post you can read below, he claims that facing constant cyberattacks and various threats for over a year now. However, all attempts to damage the development process and the reputation of the studio, the developers called futile. However, players and true fans are asked not to share this material, which is likely to gradually appear on the Internet. Of course, the authors do not intend to join the above requirements.
STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl is due out later this year on PC (Steam) and Xbox Series X/S. The game will also be available with an Xbox/PC Game Pass subscription on the day of release.
