Microsoft convinced that can bring Call of Duty: Warzone and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 to Nintendo Switch in the standard way.. He is writing this in response to UK regulators, debunking speculation that he is either targeting future consoles from Nintendo or going to use cloud streaming due to Switch’s lack of performance.
Microsoft contractually agreed to bring the Call of Duty series to the Nintendo console within ten years if purchased by Activision Blizzard. They don’t see the problem with the weaker Switch hardware. He claims that Call of Duty works on PCs with graphics cards from 2015 and even on older consoles. In addition, according to him, Activision has “a long history of optimizing game performance for available hardware capabilities.”
He compares Apex Legends, Doom Eternal, Fortnite, and Crysis 3 to both current Call of Duty games, both of which have received standard Switch ports.
If Microsoft or Activision are really trying to bring Warzone to the Switch, in particular, it’s going to be a no-brainer. Even the aforementioned Fortnite is on the low end of acceptable framerates on the Switch, and Warzone is an even more demanding game with big maps and two hundred players.
