Sony is due to release a number of documents that could list prices for exclusivity

As Microsoft’s planned acquisition of Activision Blizzard draws closer to approval in Europe, materials are being collected in the United States for a lawsuit it filed in August. Federal Trade Commission (FTC). She decided that Sony should publish most of the documentswhat Microsoft requires of it.

On some points, the FTC upheld Sony’s objections. For example, Microsoft wanted ten years old documents. According to the authorities, this is not necessary, they should be enough from 2019. Further Sony is not required to release a personal assessment of PlayStation boss Jim Ryan. The request was too general and vague, and Ryan’s privacy is also taken into account. This request of its competitor was previously marked by the Japanese giant with the English word harassment.

In most cases, the FTC ruled in favor of Microsoft. So Sony should prepare documents for vice presidents Hideaki Nishina and Lin Tao, who are in charge of finance, company development and strategy. Arguments that the documents were in Japanese and would be harder and more expensive to find, or that Nishin’s name hadn’t been mentioned in Microsoft “for a while” were not enough by the FTC.

At the same time, Sony will publish your lawyer’s external communications Greg McCurdy has been in this position for the past eight months. Other documents that Sony may disclose may include, for example, amounts paid for PlayStation exclusive games.

So far, the US is the only country that has sued to buy Activision Blizzard. A majority of the sixteen authorities are expected to approve the acquisition in the spring. Apart from the aforementioned European Union, Microsoft is currently negotiating mainly with UK regulators.
