The new Beecarbonize from the Czech studio Charles Games is dedicated to climate change

Developer Charles Games has collaborated with the non-profit organization People in Need to release Beecarbonize. This is a strategic card game in which you will fight against climate change. A game Hooray available for free on PC and mobile platforms with Android and iOS systems. You can download the desktop version via Itch.io.

“At Beecarbonize, we wanted to create an engaging game with engaging gameplay that players could learn from if they wanted to.” explains game designer and programmer Alexa Petrova. “Progressive climate change is generating natural disasters or social crises, and players need to deal with them and plan their progress accordingly.” adds Petrova.

“No part of society, economy and nature stands alone in our game, the goal was to show that, for example, energy production and land protection are connected”, describes the approach of Jakub Zeleny from People in Need, who took care of the professional side of the game. “All the phenomena and measures in the game are based on real research, for more futuristic maps like mech robots from real science visions” adds greenery.

“The climate crisis is a topic that we have wanted to work on for a long time, also because games are good at simulating real, complex events, that is, the relationship between climate and humanity.” adds Charles Games developer and director Lukasz Kolek. “Beecarbonize continues our studio’s tradition of making games with social impact, but at the same time represents a whole new design approach and genre for our studio. We can’t wait to hear what players have to say about her.” Kolek concludes.

Prague-based Charles Games has become well-known among players mainly for its award-winning historical games Attentat 1942 and Svoboda 1945.
