He has been with the studio for over ten years. Ubisoft Montpellier into development Beyond good and evil 2. During this time, the project reportedly went through several reboots, and already in 2020 the designer, creative director and director Michel Ancel, who became famous for the first part and the Rayman series, left it.

Now here’s another problem. French authorities are investigating Ubisoft Montpellier due to rising burnout rates. According to a report from Kotaku, most of the studio’s staff went on extended leave in 2022 due to stress or illness, with some reportedly choosing not to return. An unprecedented number of developers are expected – dozens of developers and many executives.

A French inspection visited the studio last December, and everything should have resulted in the hiring of an outside organization to interview the staff and provide a report on the health and well-being of the team. This has also been confirmed by Ubisoft:

“The health and well-being of our teams is an ongoing priority” — said the publisher Kotaku. “Due to the length of the development cycle for Beyond Good & Evil 2, the Montpellier development team is undergoing a third-party health assessment for preventive measures and to determine where additional support may be needed.”

Apart from this control, there is another thing that worries the team. Executive director Guillaume Carmona left the studio, which his office colleagues haven’t seen since the beginning of this year. Carmona has worked at Ubisoft for over 18 years, and in 2019 he took over as head of Ubisoft Montpellier. We do not know the reason for his departure. Ubisoft continues to claim that Beyond Good and Evil 2 is in full development.

The first mention of the sequel to the adventure thriller “Beyond Good and Evil” refers to 2008. However, it was introduced only in 2017. Despite the big ambitions, the game is among the problematic Ubisoft games that already have a pirated online game. Skull and Bones and strategy Settlers. It was released recently, but it would probably be better if it never saw the light of day.

The French company canceled more than six games last year, with Skull & Bones postponed for the sixth time.
