Larian Studios is currently owned by one of the most positively perceived gaming companies. Considering the projects the studio is behind, it’s no wonder the community really likes these developers. Following the announcement that Baldur’s Gate 3 would only be released on PC and PlayStation 5, a certain segment of players were upset because they felt that, like other development teams, there was an exclusivity prepayment that would at least temporarily prevent a certain group of players from playing on your favorite console. However, the reality is ultimately different.
The studio issued an official statement denying the exclusivity speculation and stating the following:We see different interpretations of what this means, so we wanted to clarify this information. We’ve had the Xbox version of Baldur’s Gate 3 in development for quite a while now. While developing the Xbox port, we ran into a few technical issues that make it impossible for us to be 100% sure we’ll announce it until we’re sure that we found the right solution, in particular, we could not split the screen co-op will work to the same standard on the Xbox Series X and S, which is a condition for us.“
Therefore, the fault lies primarily in the fact that the development of the Xbox port is not without problems, so it will probably appear some time after the release of the PC and PlayStation 5 version, which will happen on September 31st.
So the only reason we haven’t announced the Xbox version is because we’re not ready for it yet. It has nothing to do with exclusivity. Read more here https://t.co/FC0juT5qBM
