Dota 2 has a longstanding problem with cheaters. So Valve decided to try and crack them down, and they did. According to the company in a press release, it has managed to permanently ban more than 40,000 players using fraudulent software. The trap for this group was the new patch, which until now had a data section visible only to the program used by cheating players. Anyone who pulled data from this “secret” section was banned. This is one of the winning battles of the fight against cheat makers. However, according to the company, the war is still going on, and this success doesn’t exactly mean you won’t run into scammers while you play.

As the company writes in a comment: “Dota is the game you enjoy most when you are in the same starting position as your opponents and victory is determined by skill and perseverance. However, we are not naive and do not expect that new cheats will suddenly cease to be created and used..” However, we are keeping our fingers crossed that the company is able to find and subsequently eliminate these fraudulent ways as soon as possible.
