American Labor Organization Communications Workers of America (CWA)which includes most of the gaming unions of America, including Activision Blizzard And Microsoftthrough its chairman Chris Shelton called on the European Commission to approve the planned acquisition of the first named company by the American giant.
Shelton wrote a letter to the European Commissioner for Competition Margret Vestager. In it, he writes about union issues at Activision Blizzard. “Starting in 2021, the CWA is supporting Activision Blizzard employees in organizing unions. At every turn, they face the intransigent attitude of the leadership,” he explains.
The CWA sees Microsoft as a more favorable partner: “Microsoft’s commitment will bring employees to the negotiating table and ensure that the acquisition of Activision Blizzard will benefit the company’s employees and the broader video game job market.” the largest American video game union at ZeniMax.
