Luck finally smiled on G2
Completed. This year, IEM Katowice is a thing of the past. The Grand Final offered a matchup between the two strongest teams in the world rankings at the moment, G2 and Heroic. This year, the form of shooters from G2 is absolutely unstoppable, which they demonstrated in Katowice. After two bad years they became champions and beat Danish Heroic 3-1. The first battle map was Nuke, where G2 is at home. They haven’t lost to her in over three months. However, the first half belonged to the Heroic team, who scored ten points for CT and approached the second half with a noticeably better mood. But G2 quickly recovered and completely dominated the second part of the map. So, Nuke finished with a score of 16:12 in favor of G2.
But G2 quickly recovered and completely dominated the second part of the map.
The first map chosen by the Heroic team was the popular Mirage. At first, the pick seemed to pay off, with Heroic leading 8-1. But G2 quickly got down to business and, thanks to their aggressive style of play, won another map, this time with a score of 16:13. So, G2 took the lead in the series with a score of 2:0. The third map was Inferno, where Heroic’s opponents broke their winning map streak in a row, stopping at G2 at number 21. With a score of 16:11, they reduced G2’s lead in the series to 2:1. Ancient, the fourth and final final map, ended with a 16:7 victory for G2, which ended the streak 3:1 and finally reached the podium two years later. Congratulations.
SINNERS Won’t Go to Paris Major
The second open qualifier for the Paris Major was extremely important for the domestic SINNERS team. There was a struggle for progress. But they lost the decisive match again and lost to the French LDLC in the series 1:2. On the first map of Anubis, the fight was very even. LDLC won by just two points, 16-14. The second map, Overpass, was played in the clear dominance style of our fellow SINNERS, who won 16:6, and many fans found it understandable to qualify for the Major. Unfortunately, on the third map, this dream collapsed. At Nuke LDLC they led 9:6, and SINNERS could not turn the tide in the second half. Thus, the third and decisive map ended with a score of 16:7 in favor of LDLC, who, thanks to this, won a decisive victory. I hope next time our shooters will perform better.
