The Disciples series is returning to the gaming scene after many years. A series that first appeared in 1999 and was labeled a clone of the then Heroes of Might and Magic. Although there was some truth in this, both series retained their game mechanics, and over time, Disciples began to differ more and more.

The game just reviewed is already the fourth part, but it is still independent and knowledge of previous games is completely unnecessary. She took care of him Studio Freemawho have only a few tiny games behind them, and this is their first really big title, but in the final it turned out well.

Disciples: Liberation is a tactical turn-based RPG in which you take on the role of Avyanna of Illyan and set out with your trusted friend Orion to save the world and discover Avina’s past. The world of Nevendaar is at war, where legions of demons, realms of humans, hordes of the undead, and last but not least, elves fight each other. You have to establish friendship between factions and make a decisionif you add to this or that. As you progress through the story, you will encounter several difficult decisions that will affect not only the popularity of the faction to you, but also to a certain Measures and the main plot.

Don’t expect big changes, rather the ending is the end of the story and which faction will win the war in certain areas where the story will gradually take you. There will be twelve of them, and in each we will have to look for allies and solve the problems of the factions.

The relationships you have with certain factions allow you to recruit new types of soldiers that you can take into battle with you. General history not bad in the end, but it cannot be said that it would resonate in you for several days after the finish. It offers us a range of classic clichés, but if you don’t expect anyone to be, you might be pleasantly surprised. The world of Nevendaar is not just black and white, and each faction has its own interests, just like you. Not only is each side good or bad, you will often be faced with difficult decisions about who to help in the finale when both sides are partially right. The dialogues are more than well written and the only thing more players might be worried about is lack of Czech localizationbecause the text is really more than enough. Also, a lot of the side dialogue isn’t even dubbed, so you really have to read it carefully.

As you become familiar with the factions and characters of Nevendaar, you will become familiar with its world. You will move around the locations on horseback and run from one treasure to another and from one duel to another. And what will happen there … You will be close to the battles. Opponents are waiting for you at every corner. These are, as mentioned at the beginning, classic turn-based games, and so on. hex boxes you will lead your squads and mow down one enemy after another.

But Avyanna will not be alone on the battlefield, and in addition to the classic units of these factions that you can hire, your companions will be able to be with you on the battlefield. In addition to Orion, there are seven other companions that you can meet on your journey. In addition to fighting, they occasionally intervene in dialogue and tell their little stories.

In terms of combat, this is a simple system where each unit can move or attack. Avyanna can then use special spells to gain mana. No more, no less. It really is base systemwhich has been in operation for many years. It’s a pity that there aren’t many units in the finale, the same can be said about the battlefields. After a while, everything starts to spin. Unfortunately, your companions, with whom you do not have a very good relationship, do not help either, although their stories are sometimes interesting. However, they do not affect what is happening around you. But the worst thing about them is that in the final there is only something stronger overall unitswhat can be put in the army.

Disciples: Liberation is almost seventy hours long, often with too many fights. Gradually, they just skim through, and in the second half of the game you will simply repeat the same tactics over and over again and swap one or the other unit. The bosses must then help the stereotype. But the opposite is also true. Who thought of putting the boss in a turn-based strategy? There are only five of them, but really, why?

Bosses always have a huge amount of life and usually do the actions that you see around to avoid them. An interesting idea, but in the end there is only suffering. A half-hour duel with the boss is simply nothing alive, and indeed not at all, if you die shortly before the end.
