Who would have thought that late in the evening we would receive such a principled and completely unexpected announcement. From a tweet and subsequent press release, we learned that the Finnish studio Remedy Entertainment is working on full-fledged remakes of the first two parts of the famous action series Max Payne.

A little history to start. Although Remedy created just one and two, they subsequently sold the rights to the Rockstar brand, which still owns them to this day. However, the authors of the GTA series used it only once, for the third Max Payne, which was released in 2012 and remains the last part of the series.

That’s what makes the remakes more amazing, since Remedy hasn’t held the rights for a long time. But it is clear that they have a warm relationship with the series, the Finnish developers have quietly celebrated various anniversaries of this brand more than just Rockstar.

“Max Payne has always held a special place in everyone’s heart at Remedy, and we know that millions of fans around the world feel the same way.” said Tero Virtala, CEO of Remedy. “We’re thrilled to be working with our partners at Rockstar Games once again to bring players the story, action, and atmosphere of the original Max Payne games in a new guise.”

Remakes of Max Payne and Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne will be released as one name. He’s heading towards PC, prefix 5 as well as Xbox Series X | Sand is supposed to be created on the engine northern lightwhich the Remedy studio created itself and used in Quantum Break or Control. The development of the remake will Finance Rockstar Gameswhereas the budget should be the same as other AAA Remedy games.

Unfortunately, the project is still in concept stage, so it’s obvious that we’ll be waiting for the release for a long time. But the announcement itself will certainly please many fans.

In conclusion, I will add that Remedy is currently working on many other projects at once. In addition to the recently announced remakes at the Finnish studio, Epic Games is releasing the survival horror Alan Wake 2, Project Condor (multiplayer from the world of Control), and Project Heron (a full-fledged sequel to Control), both published by 505 Games. We shouldn’t forget Project Vanguard, a multiplayer game built differently from other Remedy titles in Unreal Engine and published by the studio in collaboration with Tencent.
