Call of Duty is expected to have two betas and early access

Insider Tom Henderson and journalist Jason Schreier agree that Call of Duty will finally be a full-time job this year, but it won’t be Treyarch. Originally planned to release CoD from the creators of Black Ops this year, but in early 2022, Activision pushed the project back to 2024 and, according to Schreier, decided instead to fill the hole with new Modern Warfare content from Sledgehammer Games. A little later, it was decided that it would be a separate game.

Undoubtedly, this year’s Call of Duty will be closely related to Modern Warfare. Apart from the single player campaign, it should also bring redesigned multiplayer maps. It is not yet known whether this will be a soft reboot of Modern Warfare 3, that is, a continuation of last year’s successful Modern Warfare 2. Personally, I expect the third part from Infinity Ward in a few years.

NPD analyst Mat Piscatella believes that if Activision does not release a new Call of Duty this year, it could have serious and long-term negative consequences for the video game industry. This is likely due to the fact that each installment sells very well and is often the best selling game of the year.

Henderson announces two weeks of beta testing and early access to the campaign. Everything points to the fact that Activision doesn’t want to underestimate anything and intends to properly promote this game, like the previous parts.

If Henderson has the correct information, it should be:

  • First Beta Weekend (PS4 & PS5) – 6/10/2023 – 10/10/2023
  • Second Beta Weekend (PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC – 12/16/2023)
  • Campaign Early Access (PS4 & PS5) – November 2, 2023
  • Game release on all platforms – 11/10/2023

Henderson was unable to find out when Call of Duty would be revealed. May is mentioned in other reports.
