Microsoft received an antitrust warning from the European Commission in connection with its acquisition of Activision Blizzard.. In it, the EU competition authorities indicated the reason why the merger could threaten fair competition in the video game market, Politico reports.

The European Union launched a thorough investigation into the acquisition last November. As it turns out, Microsoft expected such a decision, and its representatives say they are listening carefully to the concerns of the European Union. and are confident that they will be able to properly resolve them in order to eventually get approval for the acquisition of Activision Blizzard.

According to the New York Times report, Microsoft also expects problems with the UK regulator. The company hopes to convince the European Union and the UK to accept its concessions and approve a deal worth nearly $69 billion.

If Microsoft had permission from the European Union and the UK, it would may have facilitated a settlement with the US Federal Trade Commission ahead of the planned litigation. This will happen later this year.

All three agencies express concern that Activision Blizzard’s merger with Microsoft will limit the competitiveness of the PlayStation. However, Microsoft previously promised to release Call of Duty (which is officially the most) on PlayStation consoles within 10 years. He also promised this for Nintendo and Steam. Sony called Call of Duty an indispensable brand.
