It hasn’t been that long since we detailed how suspicious The Day Before looks from the outside. Apparently, this is the impression most of the gaming public had, so now the developers hastened with a deliberately “unedited” ten-minute gameplay demonstration. It sees the arrival of a pair of co-op characters from the suburbs to the city center, during which they alternately spend their time collecting raw materials, making tools or improving weapons, and of course shooting zombies.
So we can state that the game is really being worked on, but the difference between the earlier “polished” demos and the current state of the playable build is, to put it mildly, significant. It’s also unclear how much of the several action sequences are scripted – and how much is missing from real-world AI or possibly game story content. The recently announced delay to November of this year may not be the last, but it might even make sense if the game is released in Early Access to bring more development resources into the studio and community to help developers with testing. If the game can be brought to a meaningful state, it probably won’t compete with The Division or even The Last of Us, but it may well become a worthy variation of the more modest Generation Zero, of which I also had quite a few. fun to play.
The game is scheduled to release on November 10, 2023 on PC. There are currently no pre-orders or wish list available.
