Experience from Dead space remake some players are spoiled for graphical issues. EA Motive was able to respond quickly and released an update for PlayStation 5 and PC (Steam and the Origin/EA app). It will also be available on Xbox Series X/S by the end of the week.

The patch improves visuals, especially in performance mode on the PS5 console, and fixes issues that occur during use. Variable speed shading (VRS) on both Sony console and PC. In addition, it is now possible on the computer VRS offwhich was previously impossible.

VRS is a process that splits graphics card processing across multiple parts of an image. This allows the graphics to use more processing power for the complex rendering parts and less for the simpler parts. But the use of VRS in the Dead Space remake caused some visual issues. Objects or textures appearing in shadows had significantly less visual detail than lit models or other objects in the foreground. According to John Linneman of Digital Foundry, objects in the shadows lost much of their detail. In theory, this is good, but for a horror game that takes place mostly in the dark, it can be distracting.

VRS wasn’t the only technical problem with the Dead Space remake. PC Gamers Worry About Optimization Too. The studio is aware of other bugs and intends to focus on them in the next update. Although they have not yet specified what exactly they want to fix.
