Sony had a very ambitious plan for the next generation of VR. By March 2023, the company wanted to put two million units on the market. It was PlayStation VR2 well ahead of its predecessor, which took 8 months to sell one million.
But there is not much interest in pre-orders for PS VR2. That’s why Sony has slashed its plan by about half and wants close to a million devices available by the end of March this year. She learned the information from people familiar with the company’s plan.
From April 2023 to March 2024, Sony expects to receive approximately 1.5 million more PlayStation VR2 units. But this may change depending on demand.
