Naughty Dog on the next Uncharted and The Last of Us

Nobody at Sony is pushing Naughty Dog to make more Uncharted and The Last of Us, despite the commercial success of both series.. Nathan Drake’s story is closed and Naughty Dog doesn’t seem to see the point in returning to Uncharted after A Thief’s End, one of their best-selling games.

A similar situation could arise with The Last of Us, Neil Druckmann admitted in an interview with BuzzFeed. It all depends on whether they come up with a compelling enough story for The Last of Us Part 3.. If not, Ellie’s story could end in The Last of Us Part 2 because it has a very strong ending and that’s how the story could easily end. He acknowledges this at a time when HBO’s The Last of Us is breaking viewing records and receiving positive reviews.

“I know a lot of people are wondering about The Last of Us: Part 3 and whether it will happen or not. All they can say is that Naughty Dog has a lot to offer as a studio under Sony. They are the publishers of our games and fund projects. They support us every step of the way and allow us to follow our passions. People think that when a game is successful, the studio is forced to make a sequel, but that’s not the case at all.” co-president of Naughty Dog said.

“For example, the Uncharted series is a huge success, and Uncharted 4 is one of our best-selling games. However, we decided to wrap up the final story threads, and that’s about it. We must move on.” Druckmann added.

On the other hand, this does not mean that we will no longer meet Uncharted. Late last year, The Leaker reported that Sony green-lights Uncharted reboot. This should take precedence over a full fifth volume. There were already rumors that another studio would take over Uncharted, and Naughty Dog would just oversee the work.

At least inside Sony it’s made a new team not only for new games, but also for the Uncharted legacy. At least that’s what Christina-Marie Drake McBrart said when she joined Naughty Dog as a recruiter. In turn, a job offer late last year said that Sony’s new development team was working with Naughty Dog on a game based on the beloved series.

In the past, we’ve seen Uncharted spin-offs or remasters from other studios, such as Bend’s Uncharted: Golden Abyss and Bluepoint Games’ Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, while Naughty Dog created Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, a standalone expansion. with the story of Chloe Fraser searching for the tusk of Ganesha in the Western Ghats of India. The main character of the series, Nathan Drakea, is only mentioned in passing in The Lost Legacy. So I can imagine a sequel to Uncharted without Nathan. What you?

Currently at Naughty Dog they are working on offline multiplayer game from the world of The Last of Us, there will be a completely new story and characters trying to survive in another city. We haven’t seen that in The Last of Us yet. This is supposed to be the next chapter in the world of The Last of Us. Two works hint at something.

The question remains how things stand with the outlined plot for The Last of Us Part 3, which Naughty Dog already had in 2021.

The Last of Us series since its premiere in 2013. over 37 million copies sold. In 2022, the first part of the remake was released on the PlayStation 5, and on 03/03/2023 it will be released on PC.
