Rainbow Six Mobile promises a unique shooter

There are longstanding constants in today’s competitive multiplayer shooter market. We have Counter-Strike, Fortnite, Overwatch, Valorant or just Rainbow Six Siege, which will celebrate its seventh birthday later this year. Year after year, this game enjoys increasing popularity and continuous free support from developers. One of the main reasons is that it is quite difficult to find direct competition. Fortnite is fast and arcade, while Counter-Strike requires a good reaction. But Rainbow Six Siege relies on map knowledge, unique operator abilities, and tactical thinking. It’s a slower, but still intense game that occupies a somewhat unique position in this relatively overpopulated genre.

Ubisoft wants to take the same position again. But this time on Android and iOS in the form of Rainbow Six Mobile. Mobile version of multiplayer Siegewhich strives to convey this wonderful game as accurately as possible on portable devices. And for now, Ubisoft seems to be on the right track.

At its core, the mobile version is not much different from that on large platforms. We should look forward to all the most basic elements, including operators and destructible environments, as well as minor modifications to make the whole game fit the mobile interface. Likewise, not all of the content we already know from the original version will be available immediately upon release.. Not only for this reason, the two projects are separated, mainly in terms of servers, and we should not expect any form of co-op play, even in some special mode.

At the same time, an entirely new team is working on Rainbow Six Mobile, located predominantly in the Ubisoft Montreal offices, where the developers of the original game are based. However, the two teams are reportedly working closely together, so this should be a truly authentic remake. Many aspects will be taken over, but at the same time redesigned for the mobile version. Including just control or some kind of operator behavior.

For example, the option “tactical focus“As the image zooms in, when you aim your weapon, you will walk slower and the world around you will become silent so you can focus on your shot. However, it’s not entirely clear from the trailer and gameplay demo how exactly Rainbow Six Mobile will stick to the original version in every way. For example, will a headshot still mean certain death, or will the game become a little more forgiving in some minor ways. But it looks like it will really stick to the console and PC versions as much as possible.

Unfortunately, this does not apply to direct content, e.g. When it comes out, we won’t see everything that Siege currently offers after seven years of existence.. At the same time, however, additional content will not arrive in the same order. The first version of Rainbow Six Mobile will include, for example, “Bank” and “Border” cards. Among operatives, this will be at least a partial crowd of the original squadrons, such as Rook, Mute, Ash, Sleigh or Smoke. But there must be some operators that came out later, like Hibana or Caveira.

In particular, the “Bomb” mode was also mentioned, where classically one team defends and the other attacks. However, there was no talk of the Hostages mode, so the question is whether we will see it. As well as Team Deathmatch, recently added to Siege. However, it should be noted that in competitive and slightly less serious unranked matches, only Bomb mode is played. So it seems that other modes for Ubisoft are not essential. Plus, it makes it pretty enjoyable for complete beginners who don’t have to worry about changing tasks. And due to less content compared to the main version of the Siege, and even more so. After all, we mustn’t forget that with the recently launched new season, the game already has a solid 63 operators and 20 maps, with more on the way.

But that’s more or less all to present the game itself.

WHAT IS RAINBOW SIX SIEGE ABOUT?

But if you are interested in Rainbow Six Mobile, or vice versa, you do not know exactly why it should interest you, and at the same time you are not very familiar with Rainbow Six Siege, then we thought it would not be a good idea to pay attention to the second half of the video closer to the fact that this game is so different and therefore it has taken its place quite firmly on the market.

As already mentioned, This is a competitive multiplayer shooter. In particular, matches are divided into attackers and defenders, with each team consisting of five people with one life. Like in Counter-Strike, if you die, you are permanently out of the game for the entire round. As you probably understand, each team has an additional task. You can either shoot the other team, or complete a task that usually requires the protection of a bomb or a hostage, or, conversely, stop the bomb and save the hostage.

However, the biggest changes have affected the operators themselves. It would be relatively easy to say that Siege is a kind of “hero shooter” similar to Overwatch, where each character has their own unique abilities that make them very different. But Siege comes out a little more mundane and the individual capabilities of operators – either gadgets or devices – try to either preserve some realities, or at least seem realistic. So don’t expect magic or total sci-fi, even if on more than one occasion you have to drop disbelief. However, individual abilities are more like unique grenades, shields, weapons, and more. On the side of the defenders, you can have a heart rate detector, a doctor with moderate healing abilities, or Aruni, who can protect the door, window, and holes in the wall with a projectile-stopping laser net. The attackers, in turn, have access to a cartridge charge that fires a series of grenades on the other side of the wall; an exothermic charge to explode reinforced walls, or an impact drone that can easily penetrate enemy territory and damage his equipment.

The entire defending team can at any time get to their cameras scattered around the map and track the location of enemy units if they do not destroy the cameras. On the contrary, attackers have ground-based drones at hand, with which they can get under the door and both find the position of the operators and collect additional information. For example, who they play as or where exactly who is in the room. At the same time, you only have slightly more limited access to cameras or drones even after death, so you can also actively help your team from the grave.

However, at the heart of Siege is the shooting itself. Individual gadgets or abilities, if you will, can help you a lot, and many of them can drastically change your game and your chances of winning. But a well-aimed headshot is just a well-aimed headshot; nothing compares to this. Together, however, both aspects form a game that boasts a higher difficulty, but which more people can enjoy without too much trouble. If you just can’t give it your all, you can immediately find a lot of operators whose equipment will help your team without much knowledge and skills. Defender – Rook, who can lay a stack of armor plates, which will allow the team to withstand a little more damage. Of the attackers in front, Montagne could be with a bulletproof shield.

Of course, we shouldn’t forget one more thing that Rainbow Six Siege is probably best known for, and that is the destructibility of the environment. Many of the walls you would normally recognize from wood can be destroyed. Simply spread it out slightly or tear it down completely and create another passage into the room. The same rules apply for the ceiling or floor, so you can either defend the location or attack it from anywhere and easily from another floor if you prepare everything correctly. This is especially an aspect that can cause problems when moving to a mobile platform. Whether it’s in terms of gameplay – and, for example, the speed of targeting and the ability to respond to these things – or in terms of optimization and performance. However, this is a relatively key feature of this game, and we believe that if it did not work on mobile, perhaps the mobile version itself would not even have been created.

Map knowledge and similar tactical thinking is one of the main elements of Rainbow Six Siege and something that is almost non-existent in other multiplayer shooters. As a result, it will be able to differentiate itself significantly from its competitors, and at the same time, it will also be able to differentiate Rainbow Six Mobile. So we are definitely curious how this project will work. After all, we have to agree with Ubisoft that such a game on a mobile phone is simply not in this form and could be a relatively good game for long-distance and calm travels. Now the only question is when we will actually see the release and whether the wait will pay off in the end.
