Marvel’s Avengers, a game from the undoubtedly talented studio Crystal Dynamics, which, however, did not quite live up to expectations and the reaction was rather mixed. Given all this, it’s amazing that even after two and a half years, this service is still up and running and adding content. And also not for long. The development will be completed soon.
This was first stated by journalist Miller Ross for Exputer magazine, citing sources close to Crystal Dynamics. According to him, the end of support was originally planned for the second half of this year, but in the end everyone hurried a little, the announcement was supposed to be already next week. However, it looks like the studio was even more rushed after this article, as on Friday, just before midnight, the end of support was officially announced.
After March 31, no new content will be added, and official support will fully end on September 30 this year, when the game will also go on sale. However, both the campaign and multiplayer will remain available to game owners. Along with the end of support, the in-game store will also be canceled, in which it will no longer be possible to buy items for real money, the developers will make everything available to existing players for free. Unused credits will then be converted into other currencies.
As such, the already small team working on a dying game will move on to the remaining two projects – the Perfect Dark reboot, which is being created under the auspices of The Initiative, and the new installment of the Tomb Raider adventure series, which will be published by Amazon. According to Ross, the development of the second mentioned game is already in full swing, and we will see a full presentation later this year.
