You could even say that he is a playable dinosaur. The first part of the adventure series “Monkey Island” was released in 1990. But now a new one is being prepared, the sixth in a row, called “Return to Monkey Island”. He announced it the creator of the famous series Ron Gilbert himself, who will be behind the latest addition.
The game should be out by the end of the year. Gilbert and his team worked on it for two years. It also brought in a number of original developers, including writer and designer Dave Grossman, so it’s safe to say that the new installment is in the hands of true veterans. The protagonist Guybrush Threepwood is again spoken by Dominic Armato.
What I’ve been looking forward to the most is that after school today, I can finally tell my son what I’ve been working on since he was five years old. He knows everything about Monkey Island so I think it will blow his mind even though it’s not Minecraft.

Return to Monkey Island is supported by Gilbert’s Terrible Toybox in partnership with Devolver Digital and licensee Lucasfilm Games (formerly LucasArts).
They’ve already released a short teaser that doesn’t have much to look at. However, it looks like the story of the game will follow the first two parts of The Secret of Monkey Island and LeChuck’s Revenge, in the development of which Ron Gilbert was directly involved.
The protagonist of the adventure is the sometimes clumsy pirate Guybrush Threepwood, who fights the undead villain LeChuck and tries to charm Governor Elaine. On Monkey Island, the player then searches for treasures and various secrets and laughs at the specific humor associated with the series.
The last series was released in 2009 and, unlike its predecessors, consisted of several episodes. The series was not expected to return again. More information will gradually appear on the official website.
