The past few months have been relatively quiet for Xbox, with Microsoft even skipping The Game Awards all but completely, so it’s no surprise that speculation has already begun about a possible show the company is preparing for the start of the year. The guesses are gradually starting to come true, although we don’t have an official announcement yet, but the well-known journalist Jez Corden from Windows Central magazine came with information about the planned event.
According to his sources, the showcase should be called Xbox Developer_Direct, which in itself suggests that Microsoft is likely drawing inspiration from Nintendo, which has been running smaller, more regular Directs instead of grand shows for several years. This is exactly what action should be from Xbox. It is said to focus on Redfall, Forza Motorsport and Minecraft Legends games. Other games may come along, however, such as the recent talk of a new small game from Tango Gameworks that could be called Hi-Fi Rush. Conversely, it might be missing the anticipated Starfield, which Corden says Microsoft is likely saving for a bigger event, but he’s not entirely sure.

Developer_Direct appears to be scheduled for January 25th at 21:00 CET, though of course the date and time are still subject to change. Officially, everything can be announced very soon, says Xbox vice president of marketing Aaron Greenberg tweeted that we now have a “fun week” ahead of us and that he is looking forward to the next days, with a clear indication that Microsoft has some important announcements. After all, Corden himself closes the article with information that Xbox will announce this event this week.
