Sony released a small software update today for PlayStation 5 consolewhich is not dedicated to the classic increase in system performance, but provides support for the DualSense Edge wireless controller. It will go on sale on January 26, 2023 and will have interchangeable counterparts.
But that’s not all. The Japanese company is reportedly preparing a public beta for another major firmware update in the coming days. It is labeled as 7.00 and is intended for the PlayStation 5. According to Tom Henderson of Insider Gaming adds full integration with Discord and the ability to stream PS5 games via the cloud. However, this option should only be available to PlayStation Plus Premium plan subscribers.
Currently, the cloud is used to play games from older systems (PS1, PS2, PS3, PSP and PS Vita) to PS5, but here you will also need PS Plus Premium. The empowerment makes sense as Microsoft pushes and pushes the cloud with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
The full update will reportedly be released in March, and not all Discord features are due for public testing, which should end on January 30th.
The Discord integration was announced back in May 2021, when Sony President and CEO Jim Ryan stated that they wanted to connect Discord services with the social and gaming experiences of users on the PlayStation Network. For this reason, Sony bought a minority stake in Discord.
If Henderson has the correct information, we’ll get an official word from Sony soon.
