As we already know, so on Silent Hill 2 remake The Polish studio Bloober Team is working. Head of Marketing Anna Jasinska recently provided some interesting information about the start of development. In an interview with DreadXP, it was said that they were invited to the Tokyo Games Show 2019 along with several other developers.

They were subsequently tasked by Konami with preparing a demo of how they envisioned the Silent Hill 2 remake. Jasinska adds that, of course, they weren’t the only studio tasked with the task. The competition was fierce and every studio wanted their share of such a legendary brand.

In the end, however, things went well for the Bloober team, and their demo literally won Konami’s heart. Why were developers from neighboring Poland chosen? Anna justifies this by saying that they have great zeal and passion for creating horror titles. These are the authors of the games Layers of Fear and The Medium. This experience was to play an important role in their victory over the competition. But who did they have to face in battle and Anna declined to comment on what research countered them.

The remake of Silent Hill 2 was only announced last year, but it has been in development for some time now. This automatically raises questions, or rather, fears, How different will the remake be from the original?

Anna assures that loyal fans should not worry. The main goal was to bring the game to the present, but retain the rawness and unique atmosphere for which the brand is so famous.

For many, the biggest consolation will be the information that the modern remake should not make any changes to the story. The Bloober team will stay true to the original with the script.. So it really should be a clean overhaul of the technical part of the game and the mechanics of the game. Unfortunately, even such a cult game as Silent Hill 2 has lost its beauty over time and places. And it is on these segments that the creators focus their attention and add a modern touch.

One of the changes is the placement of the camera behind the protagonist in the style of modern third-person games. New challenges and, of course, reworked sound design, which should have helped the game further deepen the already dense atmosphere.

And even if there are some gameplay changes in Silent Hill 2 Remake, the developers are approaching them very slowly and in small steps to they kept authentic. According to Anna, this is one of the key reasons why Konami chose them and trusted them.

In another interview with Lords of Gaming, lead producer Kasper Michalsky tried to answer a similar question. There was a question about how the studio would describe the changes the developers made to the title. How much they changed the plot or how they approached the game mechanics.

The most modern technologies have been used for the very appearance of the city. (we remind you that the game runs on Unreal Engine 5) and that’s it monsters have been redesigned to look even creepier.

The AI system has been tweaked for combat to keep the player on their toes and with a sense of danger around every corner. In addition to sound and visuals, the developers focused on deeper processing of facial expressions of all characterswithout changing their character traits. This was especially important for the main character.

The development of Silent Hill 2 remake should be in full swing and step by step closer to the final stage. But now let’s see what Konami has in store for us, or maybe it didn’t hide further. Because in addition to previously announced games (Silent Hill 2 Remake, Silent Hill F, Silent Hill Townfall and Silent Hill Ascension) Konami continues to roll aces out of its sleeve.

According to Dusk Golem, who is known for his preliminary leaks about the horror genre, they are still not to be announced. three more games, which have nothing to do with those announced above. You even need to be in the early stages of development.

If the leaks are correct and we calculated correctly, We are waiting for seven new games from the world of Silent Hill. We’re not taking into account Silent Hill: The Short Message, which was supposed to be a small project, probably a trial/demo version of what’s coming next.

Silent Hill 2 Remake is in development for PC and PlayStation 5.
