Undoubtedly, the biggest wonder is that such a huge game holds together very well, the worlds naturally connect with each other and at the same time offer something interesting in every corner, with a large stream of creative bosses, enemies, traps and locations. At the same time, the courage of the creators to launch the player into this world with the absolute minimum wave of the hand helped to remind us how important a sense of self-discovery and decision-making is to the overall gaming experience. Perhaps Ragnarok offers a more digestible STORY, and Horizon is dominated by prettier GRAPHICS, but Elden Ring is simply the best GAME this year.
2nd place: God of War Ragnarok
Even the game’s biggest fans among us agreed that there were times when they had to stop watching one of those riveting story sequences and start playing some action scene while playing through it. But this is not a criticism of the combat in Ragnarok at all, on the contrary: it is the highest possible praise for the absolutely addictive story that this game is equipped with. With a more diverse cast of beautifully crafted and well-acted characters, this story takes you by storm, and once it starts, it’s almost impossible to stop until you know how it all turned out. Once again, PlayStation Studios has proven they are way ahead of the curve when it comes to raising the bar for video game storytelling. Of course, there is a stunning design and polished gameplay.
3rd place: Horizon Forbidden West
This series is really heavy. Although it offers one of the most interesting sci-fi worlds in video games and arguably has the most impressive graphics of any game this year, both main installments of the series were released almost simultaneously with a title that literally rewrote history. gaming industry. In such competition, the unfortunate Horizon, unfortunately, always remained somewhat in the shadows. But it’s still an incredibly beautiful game with a very likeable protagonist and a completely unique combat system. This year, the story offered an interesting step in a new direction and, like Ragnarok, relied on a large group of interesting characters. If you’re one of those gamers who loves to walk (or dive) in beautiful scenery or spend most of their time in photo mode, then it’s no surprise that this game is your game of the year.
