STALKER 2 is also remembered for new screenshots

Developers from the Ukrainian studio GSC Game World, who are preparing a shooter STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl, revived the end of 2022 with the release of a new gameplay trailer, which provided the most up-to-date look at the long-awaited return to the Zone. Following that happened also to the official screenshots, which, although taken from the latest trailer, also offer their own let’s see what awaits us in a full-fledged continuation of the cult series.

Thanks to screenshots, we have the right idea about the user in the first place. interface, which so far makes a rather minimalist impression. At first glance, it practically contains only an indicator of health, stamina and ammunition. compass containing icons of important places near the player. This is without a doubt the clearest evidence that STALKER 2 takes place in an open world. And not only because the compass is reminiscent of, for example, games from Bethesda Game Studios, which include The Elder Scrolls saga or most of the newer parts of the Fallout series. This also assumes that developers strive for greater visibility and accessibility of the gamewhich is not surprising given the fact that Heart of Chernobyl is not only aimed at PC, but also on consoles.

However, the mystery is the moon phase icon under the health bar, which we can see in some of the images. Of course, there is a possibility that it shows the time of day, but the problem is that it is part of the screenshots taken during the day. Maybe it’s more to represent the fact that the player character needs some sleep?

Either way, the UI, as well as a look at the inventory in the trailer, shows it’s making a comeback. known types of ammunition. The visual effects of their boxes should be familiar to anyone who has played any of the previous installments or mods in the STALKER series. If you have spent any time in games STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl, STALKER: Clear Sky or S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyator in Anomaly, Lost Alpha or another popular modification installed in the Zone, you will surely be able to see at a glance what ammunition for shotguns or Western and Eastern assault rifles and submachine guns looks like in the second part.

Thanks to the screenshots, we can then take a closer look at the processing of some types of weapons, characters that we will meet as part of the story and completing tasks, or colorful locations. These include the iconic Duga radar, a train depot, mysterious laboratories, an abandoned apartment, or the wreckage of a helicopter. Apparently, a group of stalkers settled in it, who later suffered an unfortunate fate. So the zone still looks beautiful, but at the same time a dark and damn dangerous place.. And that’s how we’ve liked it since 2007.

STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl will be released during 2023 on PC (Steam, GOG.com, Epic Games Store, Microsoft Store) and Xbox Series X|S. The game will be available on Game Pass from the day of release and will be available on all platforms. official Czech subtitles. English and Ukrainian voice acting will also be available.
