Digital Foundry: Nintendo plans ‘Switch Pro’

There was really massive speculation in 2021 about a possible “Pro” version of the Switch, which some thought was downright inevitable. Bloomberg magazine, which has covered the console several times, even said in May that it should be announced before E3. But this did not happen in the end, and instead we saw the announcement of the OLED version of the Switch in July, which, apart from a better display and a few minor improvements, did not bring anything new, the hardware remained exactly the same.

However, now that a “Switche Pro” release is almost out of the question and we’re just waiting for its successor, we’ve basically got confirmation that an improved version of Nintendo’s hybrid console is indeed in the making. This was stated by John Linneman of Digital Foundry on the DF Direct Weekly podcast. According to him, he spoke with several developers who had to confirm the existence of the device. But, as you know, the liberation did not happen in the end.

However, Linneman no longer has information on a potential successor to the Switch. According to him, most likely it will not be released next year and we will see it, most likely, only in 2024, but this is only his assumption. Let’s see what happens in the end. In a few months, the Switch will celebrate its 6th anniversary and its cycle is coming to an end. I hope we don’t have to wait long for news.
