About a week ago, namely March 26, 2022, that is exactly what happened. 19 years since the release of the classic Czech shooter Vietcong, which originated in the Brno studio Pterodon. Many players still remember it fondly, not only because of the excellent Czech dubbing, the authentic setting of the Vietnam War, or the memorable multiplayer. In addition, the Viet Cong belongs along with Mafia, hidden and dangerous as well as Hot Operations between the first computer games created in the Czech Republic to gain a foothold in foreign markets.

On the occasion of the 19th anniversary of the Viet Cong, the founder of Pterodon announced Jarek Kolář on twitter several concepts and illustrations dating back to the development of the game itself. The black and white and color paintings by Libor Balak focus mainly on character and environment drawings, and Kolarj even stated in a commentary on one of them that one of the game’s alternate titles was Rumble in the Jungle.. But the Vietcong still has better sound. We just regret that none of the concepts show the famous damn lizard. Without a lizard soldier, this is not the case, but in the latest tweet of Kolar he declaredthat he still has some black and white drawings to spare, but doesn’t have time for new tweets. So who knows, maybe we’ll see each other someday.

Jarek Kolář currently heads the Brno team at INGAME Studios, where he works. atmospheric co-op shooter first person game. The Unreal Engine game is in development for PC and current consoles and will take us to America and Asia sometime in the 20th century.. Therefore, not only fans of the Viet Cong and its multiplayer modes should closely follow the work of the INGAME studio.
