The new generation of processors and chipsets brings a big upgrade. Fast PCIe 5.0 interfaces and DDR5 RAM modules are becoming widely available. To use these innovations to the fullest, it is necessary to build a computer honestly from the very beginning, i.e. from the motherboard. For example, you can purchase top models from Gigabyte. It will satisfy even the most demanding user.
Gigabyte has some interesting boards in the high-end category, including the enthusiast-oriented Z790 Aorus Xtreme and the creative Z790 Aero G. Both boards will offer the new Z790 chipset, PCIe 5.0 support, DDR5, multiple M.2 slots, and of course same, compatibility with the new 12th and 13th generation Intel Core processors.
The Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Xtreme has a really wide range of high-end features. First, this board supports DDR5 RAM up to 8000MT/s. If you currently have a computer with DDR4 modules, their frequency will most likely be half that. Up to 4 modules with a total capacity of 128 GB can be installed simultaneously.
They did not spare money for the development of the printed circuit board itself, which has 8 layers. Power is provided by a high-quality third-generation Fins-Array cooling cascade coated with a NanoCarbon layer. This material is also present on the rest of the PCB, Gigabyte thus protecting the printed connections and the entire motherboard so that it lasts longer.
The complete power stage is 20+1+2 phase and delivers up to 105A per phase. For heat pipes located around the power supply, we find new, more efficient thermal pads. Overclocking the processor will not be a problem and you can drive the frequencies to really extreme values.
Through the use of new processors and chipset, the series is also equipped with a PCIe 5.0 interface. In this specification, you will find an x16 slot on the board that you can use to install a graphics card. Of course, this slot is connected directly to the processor. Two more PCIe x16 slots communicate with the chipset, where you can put, for example, a recording card.
You can use up to five super standard M.2 memory slots. One will offer a PCIe 5.0 interface while the other will offer an above-average PCIe 4.0 interface. If that really big storage load isn’t enough for you, four SATA connectors can also be used. Of course, there is RAID support for both SATA and NVMe storage.
In addition, Gigabyte has prepared one specialty. This is an EZ-Latch Plus system that makes it easy to replace NVMe drives and graphics cards. If you have ever changed these components in your computer, then you know that putting them together is not as easy as it seems. With NVMe drives, the complicated pushing and screwing of the drive into the slot is eliminated. In this case, simply click the disc into place. Letting go is just as easy, just turn the small lever on the board.
In the case of a video card, it is more difficult to remove it from the motherboard. This is doubly true as the size of modern graphics is growing. But with EZ-Latch Plus, just press a button on the motherboard and the graphics card will be unlocked. Replacing this key component has never been easier.
Another original element was the LCD display, which allows you to check the temperature and the clock in real time. For fans of computer tuning, the Q-Flash Plus function is also available. Thus, BIOS boards can be updated even without installing a processor, memory, and graphics. You can erase your settings with one button if the timings go wrong and the computer does not want to boot.
Finally, here again we have connecting hardware without compromise. On the back are ten USB-A 3.2 ports, two Thunderbolt 4 connectors, and a pair of Ethernet ports. One of them will offer up to 10 Gb / s, the other – 2.5 Gb / s. Ideal if you have local network storage. These speeds are also a guarantee for the future. Of course, there is also Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3 or a very good sound card with ESSential HEX USB DAC.
Enthusiasts can’t go wrong with the Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Xtreme. But a slightly different part is for creatives. The Z790 Aero G already looks more elegant, but doesn’t skimp on top-notch specs.
Based again on the LGA1700 socket for 12th and 13th generation processors from Intel. This includes support for DDR5 RAM up to 7600 MT/s. On the board, we again find one PCIe 5.0 x16 slot and two other x16 slots with PCIe 4.0 and 3.0 interfaces.
There are five M.2 slots and support for RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10 so you can customize the storage to suit your specific needs. Connector hardware includes a large number of USB-A ports. You’ll find eight of them specifically on the back, and fast USB-C 3.2 Gen 2×2 can also be plugged into the front. A practical solution, for example, when connecting a fast external drive.
If you work with data on a local network, Ethernet 2.5 Gb / s will also come in handy. An interesting feature is Visionlink, which allows you to transfer power, video and USB signal over USB-C. So you can connect your graphics tablet with a single cable.
Again, there is an EZ-Latch Plus system or Q-Flash Plus feature for easy Bios loading. Gigabyte has also focused on audio. The Realtek ALC1220-VB codec delivers premium audio quality.
It’s all wrapped up in a neat white heatsink design. This board will be the centerpiece of any creative work setup, no matter your area. From 3D rendering to video editing. The Gigabyte Z790 Aero G will provide you with a first-class foundation for any digital creation for years to come.
