When the game came to Steam days gone byalong with it came a wave of conflicting feelings. Some reviewers were able to overcome the problems and confusion that plagued the PlayStation 4 version and appreciated the story years later. But it’s here most of the playerswho simply decided that the game was in such a bad state that they doomed it forever, didn’t finish it, and threw it away.
Despite the mixed reception of the PS4 version, there was some hope that we would see a second part. But it gradually decreased, and today it is clear that it will not. Because of this, the lead developer left the studio Bend, which was responsible for the development of Days Gone, two years ago. John Garvin. He, along with some colleagues, criticized Sony and now wrote three reasons why the reviews of Days Gone were not successful.

This was in response to a Twitter post in which one user remembered Days Gone and added a snippet of the PS4 version’s average rating on Metacritic. The current community manager of Bend Studio responded to this and said that PC version has the best average rating. This offended John Garvin, who did not react very kindly.
Remember “Days Gone”? I fucking love this game. #PS4 #PS5 https://t.co/xmaIPofivI pic.twitter.com/VboglbV0YC

“The crazy thing is that nothing has changed because of what game director Jeff Ross and I are responsible for. Gameplay, missions and story. The only thing that has changed is that the code has been cleaned up. So it probably depends on bugs, rendering and framerate. It’s strange that Jeff and I are no more. Hm.“
According to Garvin, due to the technical condition of the game, it was condemned by journalists and players and was not completed. But then the developer added another tweet in which he continued:
“1. It had technical issues such as bugs, poor rendering, and low frame rates.
2. It was reviewed by people who didn’t even bother to play the game.
3. And thirdly. The reviewers were so ‘awake’ they couldn’t handle the tough white biker staring at his girlfriend’s ass.”
Bad criticism from players continues to affect the game, the company, and the creators themselves.. Although Sony has not officially commented, but all reports indicate that we will not see the second part. Although the story of a biker in a post-apocalyptic world with memories of the past will be filmed. This, together with the success of the PC version and significant fan support, may have convinced the company.
But blaming the “awakened” journalists for the failure, in our opinion, is unfair. The main reason for the failure is that Days Gone was an average game that had serious technical problems on PS4. This resulted in mediocre reviews.
